This page discusses the portable devices found in the school and discusses how each is used, as well as pros and cons to the devices. Of course, responsibility of the devices and technology will be covered, too.

Strategies to manage portable devices on campus and in the classroom:

  • Have an intern or a student during study hall update iPods and iPads at least once a week.
  • Set rules at beginning of the year and make sure students understand them. Stress the rules and reinforce them.
  • At least once a month IT department updates computer cart(s).
  • Students clean out digital cameras, digital video cameras, and delete any student created files off devices once an assignment or project is turned in.
  • The devices will be labeled and numbered. The cart they are housed in will also be labeled with a corresponding number so the devices are organized in the cart. This way, the teacher will know if a device is missing.
  • Students will need to sign-out a device in the Sign-Out Log before using the device. They will need to sign the device back in at the end of class. This way, the teacher knows who was responsible for the device.
  • Teacher will circulate around the room checking to make sure students are on task and using devices, programs, and tools correctly.
